handyPrint and OSX 10.9 Mavericks
Good news. We have a pretty stable beta version of handyPrint that is compatible with OSX 10.9 (Mavericks). In the process of re-writing the application we decided to move away from a Preference Pane to a more traditional application that you would typically find in the Apple app store. This does not mean that we will offer the app via the App Store but rather that it will feel more at home with what users are expecting from an App Store application.
handyPrint version 5 does not add any new features. We had to do significant work to port from a PrefPane to an application and we are focussing on polishing this at the moment.
If you have upgraded to OSX 10.9 (or if you currently run 10.8 but would like to test handyPrint v5.0) simply send us an email at support@netputing.com
With version 5 we will also increase the minimum donation amount to be fair to the average. In the past we have asked for a minimum of 1$ but have found that the average donation is actually between 5$ and 10$ with some donating upward of 100$ (thank you guys and galls). We are spending a fair bit of our free time supporting the application and have therefore decided to increase the minimum donation to 5$.
Any one who donated 5$ or more will be entitled to a free upgrade to v5.0. For the users that donated between 1 and 4.99 we will provide you with the details of what was the donation and will allow you to donate the difference to bring the total to 5$. We hope you will understand.
Again, many thanks to our thousands of users out there.
I am running 10.9 and my Handyprint will not launch at all.
It is a wonderful program, I have no idea how much I donated, but will be happy to do it again.
Send us an email and we will send you the v5 beta that run under 10.9 😉
I would like to test handyprint to convert my canon mx885 wifi printer into an airprint printer.
In addition please provid me with installation instructions for OS 10.9.1.
Question: Do I have to turn on wifi on the printer?
Many thanks in advance for your support.

I am currently using HandyPrint v 50013
We were using handyPrint exclusively for iPad printer access, using the previous version – hosted on a server (Snow Leopard 10.6.8). Printers dropped their connections on a regular basis and I was very happy to donate again (hope it was enough) to try out the standalone version, this time running from a Mavericks desktop MacMini.
I’m beginning to think that handyPrint is now providing all our print connectivity needs rather than just for iPads. If handyPrint is active a second printer option appears in printer selection dialogs, with the second printer option having acquired a (2) suffix.
This suffix then seems to replace the original unsuffixed printer on desktop computers (no user interference) and appears to kill printing thereafter for everyone. Handy print needs to be turned off, ‘bogus’ printers deleted, and real printers added back.
So, while I think I know the answer to my problem, I would appreciate feedback from netputing or other users.
Many thanks
Hello Anthony,
This is effectivelly an issue in cases where the printer is already advertising itself via AirPrint… like my test printer. I will see what option I might be able to add to fix this in a next release… probably in 5.0.9 😉
I would like to try your version of handyPrint that is compatible with OSX 10.9 (Mavericks).
I have an HP Photosmart C6280 All-in-one printer.
I will be happy to pay a $5 donation .
Kind Regards
Leslie Close
obviously like your web site however you have to take a look at the spelling on several
of your posts. Several of them are rife with spelling problems and I to find it very troublesome
to tell the truth on the other hand I’ll definitely come back again.
