After months of hard work, debugging and testing we are happy to announce the release of handyPrint v4.0.0b2. This is the next major release following the very successful AirPrint Activator series of applications. handyPrint allow you to print via AirPrint on printers that do not directly support the AirPrint protocol.
When running the application your Mac act as an AirPrint print server that will allow iOS devices such as iPods, iPhones and iPads to print to them.
Unfortunately, in the process of making v4.0.0 we had to drop support for OSX 10.6 as it does not offer the needed features to make our new engine work. For users still using OSX 10.6 we recommend you to update to the latest stable version 3.1.3.
This new 4.0.0 version provides not just one but two new print engine. If the default one does not work then switch to the second one. With the new print engine we can now support virtual printers such as “handyPDF” and “Show on my Mac”:
The Options section has also grown substantially as far as options goes:
You can select what is the type of paper you want to print to. You can also decide to print two pages per physical page of paper (sometime called booklet printing). Hover your mouse over the options and read more details using the tool tips:
As a thank you for your great support we made sure to allow your v3.x handyPrint license to work in v4.0.0. Have fun exploring this new release and do not hesitate to provide us feedback using the built-in assistant feature:
