AirPrint Activator v2.2b5 is here
A quick post about the latest version of AirPrint Activator. Version 2.2b5 is brigning a much needed fix for Duplex printers. In the past printing on Duplex printers would result in no print at all. This new release is implementing what I hope is a universal fix.
It is suggested that you grab a copy and update to this version. To download simply go to the main AirPrint Activator page.
You can get support for this release in this forum thread.

This good thing
Okay. I installed the 2b5 on my 4s iPhone to see if this works. I can get the wireless info, but my iPhone says no airprinters can be found. How do I get something to print? I have an Epson Workhorse 325 on my network.
• Download it to your Mac
• Open the disk image file: AirPrintActivatorxxxx.dmg
• Select is from the Sidebar when it appears
• Run the installer, either x2-click or command-O
• Follow the instructions
• After selecting Install, SystemPrefs should open w/ APA active
• Switch to ON
• Advance Settings, prefix: APA, keeping it default makes it easier
• Verify SystemPrefs > Sharing: Printer sharing is checked, ie active & the Users field has Everyone listed & Can Print is set
MOST IMPORTANT:
• SystemPrefs > Security > Firewall: Enter password to unlock & go to Firewall Options… > STEALTH MODE MUST BE OFF
• Otherwise, your iOS device can’t find the APA printer
This works from any iOS native app that offers printing as well as 3rd party iOS apps that support AirPrint. Some 3rd party apps will have their own Print option, possibly both, only AirPrint uses APA. Print is solely supported by the app developer
Cheers !
Thanks a lot of the new AirPrint Activator. It’s great that it now sits in the System preferences and can work with the Firewall!
When I send a print job the printer shows up as ‘in use’ but does not actually print anything.
I clicked on the air print activator and it said safari cannot download the file
Steve
i am not able to deactivate “Activator V1” before installing v2.2b5
what to do?
If it’s visible in SystemPrefs, right-click the old version & remove from pref panel will work. Then log-out & log-in
Doesn’t appear to be working with my iOS 6 device – no problem with my iOS 5 device though. Is this a known issue?
Should be compatible with iOS6 when it’s released according to the latest post
Sorry, I am a complete novice here. I just got my iPad and got the AirPrint activator v2.2 which was uploaded into my Dropbox. I don’t own a Mac computer, just an iPad and net book running off of Microsoft Windows XP. How do I install this Directly from my iPad? Sorry for my ignorance.
hi Ive tried to install various versions of airprint activator(using OS10.68) and the installer always crashs.
is there any support or contact person i can send the crash log to to see what the problem is? i would love to use this.
thanks
Please help.
Setup: PC connected to Networked HP Laserjet.
Laserjet shared from PC
Macbook on same network connected to shared printer
Printer again shared through Macbook.
iPad connected to same network and can see shared printer on Macbook.
Problem is it won’t actually print anything. I can get it to print with Printopia, so I know this setup will work. I believe the problem is because I am not able to input the user name and password for the PC. This is the only difference I notice between Printopia and Airprint Activator. Is there a way to do this? When the printer shows up on the iPad it has a lock next to it. I haven’t been able to remove the lock even though the printer is set for “everyone” to print.
the issue with this is that it sends a page check command first ;( and that borks the driver, with a connected printer you just tell it yes I have paper, and it prints, with a network printer, look to see if it is saying no paper in tray X press ‘GO’ to continue.
I have similar issues, I have an HP p1505 connected via USB and when I print, from my iPad it says the printer is ‘out of paper’ I hit the feed button on the printer and it prints fine (something in the APA is sending malformed to the PCL/PS driver)
First of all, I greatly appreciate the developers of this fantastic app! Always has worked, and they are dedicated to keep it working.
Now, I’d be willing to throw down a few bucks to keep this app in a working condition along with future improvements. The problem is, if it is out of the app store, I likely will not. I don’t like giving out my credit card information on the Internet. I use iTunes and Amazon, nothing else.
Thank you for trying to bring it to the MAS – that would have been fantastic. Unfortunately, I don’t think Apple would ever allow this app in because of its purpose – allow printing to printers that aren’t supposed to be printed to because they’re not “supported.”
What Apple should do is hire you to place your code directly into OS X. 😉 Good luck with the future development, and thanks again.
