Short post about the new version of AirPrint Activator.
Version 2.1b6 is now available for download.
Changes:
1. Made it possible to use the Advanced button while AirPrintActivator is ON.
2. Changed the application default to only share local printers instead of all visible printers on the network.
3. Minor interface fixes
To download go to the main AirPrint Activator page.

I can’t get my printer to show up as advertised for Air Printing.
HP 2605dn over ethernet, sharing is turned on
OS X 10.6.8
iOS 5.1 (iPhone 4 and iPad 2)
Try to turn the option for sharing only local printers off. The option is under the Advanced option section.

I am unable to share Wifi Based printers.
I have a Wifi Printer (Photosmart Plus B209) connected to Leopard Client via Wifi. It seems in Leopard Client I’m unable to share a printer thats connected over Wifi? Is that true or do I have something mixed up.
Any thoughts on a work around?
On ipad3…..safari failed to download?
AirPrint Activator is an application for the Mac and not for the iPad. You need to download it on a Mac and run it there to enable AirPrinting to legacy printers on your iPad.
set up AirPrint activator last night on mac, then on ipad2 using good reader can print to AirPrint on my HP printer through Mac but nothing happens? The printer is through wifi home network not cable connect to Mac Desktop.
Make sure you are not printing using duplex.
MacPro / Airport Extreme/ Ipad 2 /iPhone 4/ Sharing of all printers: OKI 5450 and Canon Pro 9000 Mark II
Software installed, Firewall-Window allowed for APAREDIR,
BUT NO PRINTER shown as usable…??!!
Printer not showing as usable is not related to firewall or aparedir. Have you properly shared the printer as per the youtube video on the main page of AirPrint Activator v2 on netputing.com?
Hi. I’m having a bit of a problem getting this to work. I’m running 10.7.3 and I’ve installed everything and a APA printer shows up as a printer. On my iPad it shows up as a printer and it even says a print job has been sent but nothing prints. I noticed you mentioned to someone else to “Make sure you are not printing using duplex.” How do I check/do that. I can’t see anywhere where I can change something called duplex.
Ok, I tried it and found another solution. Now, how do I stop the “APA’s” printer listing from showing up on my iPad??
Just turn AirPrint Activator OFF 😉
I believe that I have checked all settings according to video. My HP Laserjet PL606dn simply doesn’t show up either on the AirPrint Activator screen or on my iPad. Ideas?
Is there anyway to make this run at the login screen? I don’t want to have my Mac Server logged in all the time if thats possible. This is an absolutely perfect product otherwise…awesome job!!!
Unfortunately not at this time.

Is there a version for Windows 7??
Unfortunately not.

I installed APA on Mac following all instructions; firewall is turned off. My APA printer shows on my iPhone & says sending to printer but nothing happens. My husband did exact same process on his Mac & his is working?
How do you know if it is Duplex?
Please help!
Tx
When you print from your iPhone, it offers the option of 2-sided printing. change that so that it won’t print 2-sided and give it a shot. that was my issue for a while, but now it works great, but only 1-sided printing.
I don’t see any duplex option; just print button & couldn’t find it in iPhone settings. Where do you turn it off?
FatTireSkinnyMe,
Have you tried the latest version of APA v2.1b7? In theory it should remove the double side print option from iDevices. I would appreciate if you could try it and let me know if this is the case.
Cheers
I’d really like to help get AirPrint Activator to work reliably. I am getting the ‘offline’ errors. I suspect that my FiOS router is creating DNS entries that are giving AirPrint grief.
My background is in networking so I’d be willing to work with the code and see what I can figure out. Interested?
Hi,
You can contact me at bernard “atsign” ducourier.com. We can discuss further. What might actually help would be to get rid of the “aparedir” terminal software dep. and move to native xcode support.
Not sure what is your programming skills but this would certainly help make the application more resilient.
I downloaded this here, installed it and it worked perfectly on my iPhone 4s. No reconfiguration necessary.
Can’t get it to work. Have tried all of the versions available on the website. Running 10.6.8 and an iPhone 4 with iOs 5. Printer (connected with USB cable) shows up in Airprint Activator, and on iPhone, but nothing happens when I try to print. Have rebooted, reinstalled, reconnected numerous times, with the same result. Firewall turned off. Nothing amiss that I can see. Anyone have any ideas.
Cheers.
Try changing your computer name. Also, make sure not to print in duplex mode.
Which version of APA? There is a tendency of issue with Duplex prenters… is your printer able of Duplex (print on both sides of the page?)
I have the exact same issue, it is advertised on APA and can’t seem to get it to work. It also show up on my mobile devices, attempts to print and shows that its actually printing the pages I need, but nothing comes out. Did you ever figure it out?
“Printer is offline”. Just sits in the IOS printer queue spinning. I have an HP Laserjet connected via Network (IP)
If I install AirPrint Activator on my Mac, do I need to leave my Mac on to be able to print from my iPhone and iPad? Or can I turn my Mac off and still print?
Unfortunately you need to leave your Mac running. The Mac is the one advertising on behalf of the printer. It also act as a printer proxy for non locally attached printers.

Thanks for that information.
I like what I’ve read about this product, but I’ve tried to download v.2.1b7 several times and get “Safari cannot download this file” message. My Mac is on. Can you help?
For the ones that still have problems with the duplex printers, try using a socket connection in CUPS and then share that printer over the network. Worked for me !
My iPhone will not download air print activator, safari says it can’t download. Any suggestions?
Make sure to download and run on a Mac. By the way, try downloading v2.2b2 instead of v2.1b6 😉

I agree, this is absolutely terrific product, how could I make this work from Lion Server as service? I have to keep Server Log-in Screen on for it to run.
I know, a few people have asked for that. I should be possible to make a version that would support running as a service in the future 😉
I attempted to install the lastest beta on lion but it fails and says that “the preference pane could not be installed. Please try again
I really wish I could figure this one out… Had you installed a previous version before?
Here is how to get through the road block:
– Right click on the installer
– Select “Show Package Contents”
– Go in Contents / Resources
– Double click on “AirPrintActivatorPrefs.prefpane
– Select to install for one user
