AirPrint Activator v2.0b9
It’s been a while since I posted some news about AirPrint Activator… but here is some great stuff.
Many people have network based printers. Unfortunatly AirPrint Activator v2.0 was not supporting those… that is, until now.
With the release of v2.0b9 support for non locally attached printers is now included.
Notice how there is two different computer names showing after the “@” sign? (imac17 and iMac21) This is because AirPrintActivator (APA) is now advertising non local printers… in this case the Brother printer.
You can grab a copy of this new version by going on the main APA v2 page right here.
For suport head over the forum.

I just started using AirPring Activator. It is great. But, I am having trouble with tray selection. I am using Xerox Phaser 6180 MFP and an HP Color Laser 4600. Each time I print, it tries to utilize a tray that does not exist. So, we have to cancel the print job. It is sending to the printer, but cannot get a printout. Hopefully, you can look into this bug.
Hi,
I might look into adding this functionality in a future release. The iPad/iPhone as a print client is really “dumb”… and does not allow for selection of printer features. I suspect this is partly why Apple pulled the feature from the OS in the 1st place.
You can take a look at Printopia… I know they offer a bit more feature than AirPrint Activator… but for 10$.
I am sure I can eventually fix the issue…
Cheers!
I have iPhone, iPad(not the newest one), iMac, and Epson Stylus NX420 Printer. Using all the latest systemes. OS X 10.6.7 and iOS 4.3.1 Also, I have wireless Airport Express.
So now, I would like to print from my iPad or iPhone using Airprint Activator. Followed their video instructions but still end up with no List of Active printers listed in Airport Activator. Don’t know what I might be doing wrong. Restarted, made sure my print setting on my iMac were set to sharing, etc…
anyone use this will success? Suggestions about why it doesn’t work?
Thanks.
Is your Epson USB attached to your Mac?
Is your iPad/iPhone connected to the same network as the iMac?
Cheers,
Bernard
I just got my new iPad and I what to print with it, but I can’t afford to buy something (I’m not that old) so I was wondering if anyone new a free way of printing on iPad?
Do I still need to have Mac running w/ this version? Activator can see my network based printer, and says its sharing it. Will this be the case even if mac on which I am running Activator is turned off?
Was your question answered? I’m curious too if this software can work even with Mac off. Anyway to Wake up your WLAN printer when asleep? Or wake Mac if on standby?
i tried to install the activator.
I have Ipad1 with iOS5. But it doesnot work
