AirPrint Activator v2.0b7
I am happy to release version 2.0b7 of AirPrint Activator. There are substantial changes under the hood in the version.
I introduced the ability to customize the prefix in front of the printer name as suggested by a user. The net result is that you can not replace the word “AirPrint” with what you want or simply get rid of it altogether. To change the prefix:
- turn off sharing
- click the “Advanced Settings” button
- change the prefix to your liking
- turn sharing back on
To accomplish this I had to build a configuration file bridge between the GUI application and the background daemon by using an application defaults file. At the same time I also changed how and when missing folders are created.
As usual you can grab a copy of the latest version on the main application page over here.
You can also report issues and get some basic support in the forum.
Enjoy!
Great little app!! Thank you, I’ve contributed with my 2 cents. 🙂 LT
Thank you!

Tried other apps from Europe pledged support but nothing but printouts.,spent the whole day trying different suggestions, no success. Did a google and came up with this site, downloaded, installed program and printed from my iPad instantly without a lot of jargon and no problem. HP should pick it up and imburse developer for a successful program for iPads. I have donated willfully and thankfully. GREAT PROGRAM
Great feedback! Cheers!
I have a new MacBook Air with the OSX 10./6.6. Tonight I installed Airprint Activator v 2.0b8. I also made sure that my printer is selected as sharing. When I go to print, I go to select a printer, it goes to look for a printer, and it says no printers found. can you help me with this?
Both your macbook and your iDevice are on the same Network? Do you see the printer listed in the APA active printer list?
One thing you can try is to turn APA off and on again.

Do you have plans to make AirPrint Activator available for Windows?
No, I don’t have any Windows PC I can develop on…
Not sure what is happening. It is taking about 5 minutes before my HP printer which is directly connected to my Mac starts printing from the time I select print from my iPad2. Installed as described in the youtube video. I see the shared printers in the list of active printers. When I press print from the iPad menu a message comes up on the ipad saying “connecting to printer…” 5 minutes later the printer spits out the one page document. Previously used hactivator flawlessly with almost instantaneous printing. Now that I’ve upgraded to Activator v2.ob7…not working well. I’m running OS X 10.6.7. Has anyone else reported a similar problem? Are there files left behind from the Hactivator that are interfering?
Hello Karl,
Not sure why it take so long on you system to print. V1.x should not interfere with v2.0.
One thing you can do is to stick with v1.x until you upgrade to Lion. I created v2 mostly due to the fact the v1 will no longer work under Lion… Hopefully Lion will fix the lengthy print delay so that v2 work just fine by then.
Cheers

Thank you for replying. It turned out to be a router issue. Rebooted and now v2.0 is working without delay.
Good to know! Cheers!
Just tried APA v2.0b8, followed all the directions, and no printers show up in the APA list. Is APA compatible with Mac OS X 10.6.7?
Yes it is? Is your printer USB attached to your Mac?
