AirPrint Hacktivator v1.0 to v1.7 taken down
While working on my next project, VPN Hacktivator, I received an email from omm.com on behalf of Apple instructing me to take down the AirPrint Hacktivator pages.
Until version 1.7 of the application some 10.6.5 beta files where included in the application resource folder and where in some case used (without being really needed) by the application.
As of version 1.7 I realised that the only thing needed to make AirPrint work was a single line:
image/urf urf string(0,UNIRAST<00>)
Version 1.7.1 now only inject this single line in an existing CUPS configuration file and does not rely in any way, shape or form on 10.6.5 beta files. Unfortunatly version 1.7 was still containing some leftover files that where not used due to the fact that I did not do a “clean” Xcode build to flush out removed files.
Hopefully Apple will be fine with the removal of all previous versions from the site and will let me continue to distribute the Apple files free AirPrint Hacktivator 1.7.1 and subsequent versions. This tool is free (and require a bit more steps) but provide similar results (allow you to print to OS X shared printers from iDevices) as a commercial application like Printopia.

Could you tell us what file to add that line to so we can skip all the legal, and Objective-C, mumbo jumbo? Most people here should find a simple vi easier than downloading and running apps.
Ah. Never mind. Here is the answer:
sudo vi /usr/share/cups/mime/apple.types
Glad you found it. It was in one of my other blog post I think.
Cheers

I love this application — thanks for making it!
any fix for 10.5.x systems?
Sorry, no. You might want to try Printopia.
Cheers
I will donate when the Print Master works with my new Verizon iPhone. So far it doesn’t.
